Here in our backyard another mushroom appeared. The cap is about 4 inches across. The stem of this one has an interesting twist. Not going to consume this, but can anyone help with an ID on this?

That is a fine fungus. The twisting stalk looks like it is crossing it’s legs under a tutu.

You are wise not to consume any mushrooms found in your yard. If you really want to know, there is always google. If you pick it for study, use gloves, some of them are deadly when touched too! Let me know what it is, if you search for it.

No plans on consumption, don’t worry. I’m sure there is an “ID Your Mushroom” website out there somewhere. Will post if successful in the ID.

I love that twisting stalk! A photo of the top as well would help to ID it, there are fungi groups on Facebook who will help with ID if you canβt find it by searching.

I wish my mom was computer savvy or had an iphone. She took classes in mycology at the University of Washington and was an avid mushroom hunter back in the day. But she’s never touched a computer or smart phone in her life.

She must have truly enjoyed the hunting in such gorgeous country. π²

I text my dad, who knows something about mushrooms. He doesn’t know as much as my mom, but you never know.

It does have a unique twist to it. Looks like a common Mushroom. Not sure if it is edible.
