December in Seattle area has begun with up to 6 inches of snow on the ground, surpassing the average total yearly snow fall in one event! Our grandson had a snow day, and we were able to explain to him what a “snow day” was.

About mid way through the 6 inch accumulation

Wonder how many kids in Seattle have seen rabbit tracks?
After 120 years of record-keeping, Seattle has witnessed just six white Christmases. The most recent White Christmas was in 2017. In that year 1.0 inches of snow fell at the city’s official reporting site at Sea-Tac Airport. Seattle’s winter weather is limited greatly by the Pacific Ocean, where temperatures stay fairly even throughout the year. Our daughter shared with us that snow removal equipment is few and far between out here, understandable as snow plows are rarely needed.
Yesterday my son in Spokane sent us a photo of his snow, still ongoing. He also showed us two shots of his dog frolicking in the snow.

We are communicating via pictures more than we ever did before. I love it!! I have a child in NJ and one living in Denmark, besides the one in WA. All share photos with me. Wish I’d had that with my parents.

You are fortunate indeed to have such good contact! And my I thought our kids were spread out, Indiana, Ohio, Texas and WA. And yours are literally all over the world!

Yes Anne, there are. But everybody is doing well and all are healthy, which is such a blessing.

Wow. You would think a place that gets so much rain would see more snow. Keith

Evidently the temperatures keep the snow levels at higher elevations nearly all the time. Thanks, Keith

At least they’ll have a white Christmas. I loved the part about rabbit tracks. We had snow in the Alps and nearby mountains. Not in the valley yet.

There is some more snow forecast this week, but not sure how much will be around on Christmas! Thanks for the visit and comments.

Here in North Carolina 2 inches of the white stuff and the state closes down. Gotta admit though that I like it better this way.

I was in Tucson decades ago in grad school, and they had an inch one day. Stuck only to grass and rocks, all gone by 11:30 am. They shut the city down. Here they have very little snow removal equipment. I saw one snow plow mounted truck yesterday, it was broken down with mechanics swarming it.
