Surprise find

Just walking around in the yard this morning we spotted this red flower in an area just on the edge of where we normally mow. Not sure what it is, but it is pretty.

  1. It is very pretty and it’s commonly known as Bee Balm. You may have noticed the bees and other pollinators flock to it, probably hummingbirds, too. It’s also known as Monarda and bergamot, horsemint and other common names. It’s in the mint family but I haven’t noticed it being too invasive like regular mint. It’s worth saving and letting spread. It’s an Indiana native! It will spread through its roots. Lucky you!
