Lots of activity at the river yesterday! Soon after we saw the snake swimming along this duck decided to cross the shallow backwater to a stick covered sand bar. She found a suitable path across the bar to the river, making sure to shake her tail in the process!
So cute, I love ducks! β€οΈ

That’s a ducky duck having to climb over the barrier that looks suspiciously like part of a beaver dam.

It looks even more like a beaver dam if you see the whole thing. It is not, alas, but sticks, twigs and other drift wood settled on a sand bar formed on the out flow of a drainage sluice. She is going into the channel of the river. BTW, where the video starts is about where I first spotted the snake. He was swimming against the current, ducky was with the current.

The snake was getting its cardio workout. If there are beavers around the sand bar makes there job easier.

No beavers here, but they are some about 10 miles north.

So cute. Wonder if she had a mate somewhere nearby. It’s that time of year.

We saw at least three possible mates in the area. Certainly one was her mate…

The water looks very clear! I like the little tail shake she does after getting out of the water.

The tail shake is cute. It is refreshing to see clear water like this, too. Thanks!

Those rear-mounted propellers really keep them moving along, don’t they? π
