Went for a drive today. Here’s what we saw.
These fine feathered friends of ours were certainly enjoying their afternoon romping in the river. Hop on the ice, jump in the water, swim a bit, hop back on the ice, repeat, repeat again. Ducks have a fine life.
Are they not being hunted? Here in Denmark, in the countryside, they shoot them sometimes in big battues. An awful way of hunting. The hunters drive by with their guns and an air of big game hunter, and then they just literally massacre ducks.

Hunting strictly controlled here in the states. Each state has set seasons for migratory birds with limits on takes. There is no duck season now. Sounds like your hunting needs some control implemented. Thanks for sharing.

There are hunting seasons, in Denmark, outside of which it is not allowed, and there are a lot of ducks. I just find the way of hunting terrible, and I love ducks.

Glad they have seasons at least. That technique you describe is pretty grim for sure.

I love ducks. Here in Massachusetts, Hooded Mergansers start being more out and about this month. So entertaining!

A nice video! Love that the ducks have some open water. Our ponds are frozen over… the ducks and geese can go ice skating but none of them are taking a dip…

If it weren’t for this water being a river I’m sure it would be solid too.

It’s amazing how they can withstand such freezing temperatures.

It would seem their web feet would freeze walking on the ice! Thanks, Mark.
