One of the last places we took in before our return to Indiana was a local distillery in Snohomish. The Skip Rock Distillery is known for its premium quality liquors. Their diverse product line includes two kinds of potato vodka, three award-winning rums, several whiskeys and an assortment of fruit liqueurs.

The tasting room in downtown Snohomish is just off of the 1st Street main shopping area. The old brick building houses the street level shop and the actual working distillery. Our host told us that a remodeling project is coming, which will include a full cocktail bar.

Six flights ready
Our son-in-law’s parents have also joined us and all of us visited the tasting room. We all had a flight of four samples. It was quite the experience having samples of everything from fruit liqueurs to gin to potato vodka.

Where it all happens
All thoroughly enjoyed the new tastes to our palates. In addition to tasting we did among us purchase some of the fruit liqueurs. These small local distillers are such a treat for several reasons. Normally, like Skip Rock, they produce premium products. In addition these small local businesses are the lifeblood of the town’s economy. We enjoy supporting local businesses.Β Here is Skip Rock’s website.
sounds tasty π – I am glad to deduct that you were compos mentis enough to stop short of tasting the sanitizer π

I wondered if someone would catch that! We did quite the double take when we noticed the sign… πΉπ

btw am still negotiating with myself whether to make a little jar of elderberry gin; it’s either this w/e or not… it would be a trial with 1 of a .3l bottle – was thinking of following that recipe I posted the other wk where the guy said he microwaved the berries to get rid of potentially toxic stuff but thought to leave off the sugar because of the doubly whammy for my liver, at least until I can taste it a month from now – any thoughts? Thank you.

The owners must get a kick out of it. I’m sure we weren’t the first to notice….

It is tough, isn’t it? That’s what we get for having kids that are successful and move away. We’re lucky and have two real close, and another only about 3 hours by car. Our son in Austin and daughter in Seattle are a bit further away.

Think you would have enjoyed this tasting room, John. Tho the ABV’s were a tad bit more than the beers you like! LOL

Above 8.1? I’ll give it a go but not if I were the driver.

Never ceases to amaze– the number of alcoholic beverages and how this industry has evolved. I know our VFW post has had to stock some up-to-date stuff for the current youth population.

We always appreciate the ingenuity of the smaller local wineries, breweries and in this case distillery. You are correct that the industry is evolving.

I do not care for liquor other than tequila in a margarita, but I must admit I might have given the Badger Pocket Black Peppercorn a sip just because I like the name, and I like peppercorns!

We both tried it, and were split on our view. It was definitely a different taste! Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Have you been to any beer breweries recently. I like the names of some breweries, in addition to their beers. Last week, for example, I had a delicious lager from Zero Gravity brewery, which is in Vermont.

Haven’t been to any breweries since we got back from Seattle. We’re going to Austin in November, lots of wineries, distilleries and breweries in the Hill Country and other Austin surrounds!
