Snow is over and now the cold arrives

The snow is over. Now things get cold. Really cold.

The sun popped out this morning! The sunlight looks warm but the temperatures won’t allow much if any melting today. The forecast high was 22, and that is what it is already. The low overnight tonight will be -2 according to the NWS. So far the first temperatures above freezing will be next Wednesday. Hey, at least the city plowed the street this morning.

Winter storm warning continues

The snow continues in central Indiana. It has pretty much been nonstop since 8:30AM this morning. Blowing and drifting is occurring on E/W roads.

Time will tell how much more snow we’ll get before the snow moves out of the state. Currently most everything in Indy is closed, and most all schools are closed for in person learning. Some schools will have remote classes on Friday. Some schools are reporting that they will actually have a true “Snow Day” with the kids completely off.

Winter storm warning

Today is supposed to be a rough day weather wise in central Indiana. We are officially under a Winter Storm Warning.

The latest forecast is calling for six to nine inches of snow during the day today. High winds are to add to wind chill temps and cause blowing and drifting of snow. (Northern Indiana got up to 9 inches yesterday.) We’ll have to wait and see if the forecast snow amounts occur.

Can you say icicle?

Driving around today we spotted these quite impressive icicles.

Hope the people who live there are careful. Those icicles are very heavy, and will probably fall before they melt. There is heavy snow predicted starting Monday morning. We hope it does not mess up our vaccine appointments set for Monday afternoon.

Woke up, looked out, said wow

When we went to bed last night there was very little snow left on the ground,  Some light flurries were swirling around, but no measurable accumulation was forecast.

Every branch covered

Well, imagine our surprise when this morning we looked out and saw what was at least a six inch cover of fresh snow on the ground, tree branches flower pots and yard ornaments. In other words, winter in February in Indiana!

Big flakes and a covered bunny

Strange as it sounds, we’ve been waiting for a decent snow since we’re still stuck in Indiana. Snowfall is so pretty, and this evening it started at dark.  Up to 5 – 6 inches is forecast before morning, which is the most accumulation yet from any event this winter.

We noticed this little bunny just sitting in the yard seemingly really enjoying the snowfall. He was there long enough to begin to get a covering of snowflakes on his back. He sat there for quite a few minutes.

Snow is starting to stick!

This time last year we were enjoying an RV Resort in the Texas Hill Country west of Austin. With any luck we can get our covid vaccines sooner than later and be able to get on the road again.
