The old wheelbarrow has acted as a raised firepit. Filled with rainwater, the fire wood had provided a perch for squirrels to use for drinking. Now after two days that never reached above 20 degrees, we have the result pictured.

It’s been wicked cold here in New Hampshire as well. Can’t wait for spring already!

Amen! We’ve been contemplating heading down to Texas to try to beat the cold, at least for a while.

Texas is awesome. I was just in Louisiana last summer, didn’t want to leave.

We’ve had a couple of winters as “Winter Texans.” First was Harlingen, down on the border, second was in the Hill Country outside of Austin. We didn’t want to leave either. Oh, and of all the places we’ve traveled to, we have liked New Orleans the best. Louisiana is great. Thanks for the interaction, Crandew.

Our son actually saw one hop up there, and sniffed around and gave up and hopped down.

That cold and zero snow, that’s a start! Snow is a bad word… 😂

A light dusting of snow does one thing: your yard looks as good as every other yard on the block!

It is wonderful that you have a choice. I vote for getting the heck out of the frozen tundra and heading south. Happy safe travels.

We’ll see what works out. But the temps right now in the Rio Grande Valley look pretty darn nice!

No drink for the squirrels until the thaw comes.

Yes, they will have to go elsewhere. (There is a river close by 😉 )

Yeah, it is 6 F right now and dropping. A great idea for an old wheelbarrow! I’m letting Sparky know – we had considered a fire pit but didn’t want another mowing obstacle in the yard!!

The beauty of the wheelbarrow is that you can easily move it to mow the grass, dump the ashes, or even move that pile of wood to where your going to use your “firepit”. It works well. Stay warm if you can…

Living in an area with four distinct seasons is enjoyable most of the time. Perhaps you’ll be able to travel sometime to a cold climate! Thanks for sharing.

It’s a freezer here as well. Canada’s Northwes, for two weeks.
