It will soon be time to pick this cucumber. There are more starting to grow on the vines, so we’ll have more cucumbers as the summer goes on. With the COVID-19 surging in some areas of the country, we don’t know when it will be safe to travel again.

Here are some pictures from our herb and flower garden. Also one of many rocks in the garden. Look closely at the rock shot, there is another herb, Chives, that is blurry in the background. Landscaping this little piece of of our property, tending it and watching things grow has been one way we have kept busy during our isolation during this pesky COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately the virus still marches on.
It will take a lot to get to the last straw!
The wheat was harvested from the very large field in the background. The straw was then baled and stacked as you see it. There were three of these large “walls” of straw. As you can see, these bales require a tractor with forks to move: you don’t manhandle these bales!
A bit ago we added this stunning set of bronze bookends to our Etsy Store, Roadtirement Vintage. These birds stand at 7 inches tall. Notice that there are two different bird poses. They will look great in your library or bookshelf. They would also look good on a coffee table. Well, I guess you don’t have to look quickly at all. But have a look at our Roadtirement green beans and lettuce.

With the COVID-19 shutdowns, stay at home orders and our desire to not catch this virus, Sher and I and our son decided that this year we’d try growing some different vegetables in our garden plot. We also increased the size of our garden. So far we have harvested lettuce three times for use on sandwiches. Yummy! And as you can see, the green beans have put on flowers and getting ready for the beans to grow.
We saw this guy on the side of our RV last year at the National Road Highway 40 Yard Sale. We won’t see him this year.
Due to the COVID-19 shutdown the sale has been postponed this year. We won’t be doing any sales or markets until we think is safe to be out. We don’t know when that will be. Click here to see our post about last year’s sale.
The paparazzi camera caught this cute pair of sparrows enjoying a romantic meal together at our backyard bird restaurant. No masks were required.
Sher and I were enjoying our new yard swing, which is sitting about 25 feet away from the tree where we have the bird feeder hanging. She spotted this young squirrel peeking out from behind the tree. This squirrel was not used to having two humans swinging in a weird contraption so close to where it likes to find ears of corn and sunflower seeds.

No hint needed, but here is the culprit responsible. The squirrel that buried the corn kernel in this pot did not get back soon enough to retrieve it before germination. We thought, what the heck, let’s see how well corn grows with the petunias. Pot stability may be an issue the taller the stalk gets.
Sher and I saw this fire hydrant across the street from the Immaculate Conception Convent of the Third Order of the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana. See pictures and history of the convent at our post here.
