A true sign of fall can be seen in yards and forested areas. A carpet of leaves has developed in our yard as can be seen in the image. You can barely see the fence and mulched bed circling the maple tree.
Fall on a river
The fall is such a beautiful time of year. This little sometimes island has become home for a couple of driftwood trees. The foliage colors are still sharing their brilliance as fallen leaves take a journey down the calm waters of the river.
Just think, in a little less than two weeks the election will be over and we’ll no longer have to put up with all of those ridiculous, offensive, and repetitive campaign ads on TV, radio and print.
Continue to be careful and safe. COVID-19 is on the rise in many many areas of the country. Now is not the time to relax wearing masks, social distancing and hand washing.
More color of fall
Even though there have been two nights with frost and hard freezes there are still trees with beautiful fall leaves. Indiana is finally getting some much needed rainfall as well.

The colors of fall
Fall is such a beautiful time of the year. Temperatures are falling and the trees are stunning when they turn.
A thrilling sighting of our nation’s symbol
On my walk a very nice fellow on a bicycle pointed out a bald eagle on a dead snag several hundred feet away. What a thrill it was to see a bald eagle, which is not at all a common sight in our area. This magnificent bird was in a tree overlooking a river with farm fields on the other side. Best photo I could get on the iPhone.
Get outside, you never know what you might see! Just do it safely!
Been there a while now
This new sidewalk stone base has been laid out for quite some time. The traffic cone next to the engineering stake has been there long enough to become home to a plant that has finally made it to the light of day. An example of slow construction progress?
Big, I mean BIG decorations
In recent years decorating your home for Halloween has become quite the big deal. It seems that the decorating schemes for October are beginning to rival Christmas.
These massive spooky displays showed up this week in a yard I saw on one of my walks.
The new cigarette butt
There are reports from all over that face masks are littering the ground everywhere. We’ve seen them in parking lots, I personally saw 5 discarded on sidewalks yesterday during my daily walk. Face masks have become the new cigarette butt in these coronavirus pandemic times.
I am glad people are wearing face masks as recommended. But c’mon, folks! Don’t throw ’em on the ground when you’re done with it!
A goose on the lake
If you have been following Roadtirement, you know we have been getting out of the house and going to some RV parks to get away from our COVID-19 “isolation”. We went back to the Thousand Trails Indian Lakes campground in Batesville.
Calm lake view
This park has great paved roads for bicycle riding, and there are no large hills that are hard to climb. The pretty scenery also is nice for walks. It is nice to get away in our motorhome and to know that we are in a safe environment. Having our own self contained “house on wheels” means we do not have to use public facilities at all.
It has been reported that RV sales are booming as many have discovered the having your own facilities is safest during the coronavirus pandemic. We talked (at a safe distance of course) to a fellow who had just bought an new motorhome so he and his wife could travel safely. They were on their first time out with their new rig.

Our best 35 years
Roadtirement is celebrating this week. Yes, 35 years ago this week Maj and Sher were married. The past 35 years have, we both agree, been the best years of our lives.

We were going to do something special this fall for our anniversary celebration. That pesky and dangerous virus however has taken that idea off the table this year. We will let you know when and what we do when we do celebrate.
