Traveling in the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State provides an awesome chance to view up close and personal the famed scenery of the Pacific Northwest. The huge Olympic National Forest is home to millions of acres of Natures’ wonders.

The Quinault National Recreation Trail System on the shore of Lake Quinault is an opportunity to easily explore the magnificent rain forests. We stopped at one of the parking lots for the trail, and were easily able to walk several hundred yards into the forest on a well defined and clear trail.

Being in the actual rain forest was an eye opening adventure that brought us close to, and for a short time, part of this slice of the Pacific Northwest. The plants covering the forest floor were a deep green and covered in delicate leaves. Moss covered previously fallen branches added to the degree of total vegetation that filled the scene. This was a chance to really engage with the rain forest.

The Pacific Northwest is on our bucket list. I think all that vegetation looks magical! Did you drive out there or fly?

Our daughter and her family have lived in the Seattle area for 15 years. When we lived in our RV motorhome we of course would drive and end up in Washington usually twice a year. After we sold the RV we have flown. We strongly recommend keeping Washington on your Bucket List!!

I don’t have a post about our “top 5″….yet. But I’m glad to share a Reader’s Digest list off the top of my head:
1. New Orleans, Louisiana ( We stayed at the KOA West RV park) Take the Gray line tour of the St Louis cemetery.
2. Tucson, Arizona, mainly for the Saguaro National Monuments, and the Sonoran Desert Museum. Also do Old Tucson, film location sites
3. Seattle, Washington Tons of stuff to see and do Think about a Whale Watching cruise out of Bellingham, north a ways from Seattle
4. The Hill Country out side of Austin, Texas. The La Hacienda RV resort south of Austin is a great park. We lived a couple of months there.
5. Pidgeon Forge, Tennessee Lots of good RV parks (We stayed 10 days at one in Sieverville sp?) Adjacent to Gatlinburg
