We have two store-bought ones also – about the same size. Here in plant hardiness zone 7 (I think) folks shoot for first tomatoes by July 4th.

We started from seeds last year, this year we went store bought.

I’ve been picking tomatoes and peppers for a few weeks now. I started from seed in late January and my plants went in the ground Feb. 24th. But I’m in New Orleans and we have a long growing season.

You do have a long growing season. Feb. 24th at our place, the ground was frozen to 8 inches!

We planted tomatoes early in spring and fruit was forming when we left town. Our daughter will either keep them alive and harvest them when they’re ready. If it’s too much trouble for her, she’ll let them die.
