Working on the flower garden

Sher is planting petunias in some additional containers. She just got done planting some herbs. Our son, in the back left, is getting ready to hook the hose to the pressure washer. You can see a kitchen sink. Yes, that will be pressure washed and turned into some kind of planter in one side and a bird bath in the other.

We’ve been raking the tilled ground in preparation for placing some mulch. We have some pretty colored rocks that we picked up out in the country a few days ago. These are all glacial deposits that came down from Canada during the Ice Age.

This COVID-19 thing has us  stuck at home, like so many of our friends and family. Putting together our flower garden is a welcome project for many reasons. It gets us out side, gives a goal to shoot for, and when it comes to the vegetable garden, hopefully we’ll be able to consume the fruits of our labor.

Indiana is starting to slowly “open back up”. Some more stores are now open at reduced capacity. Restaurants can open for inside business at 50% capacity with restrictions. It is easy to desire to get back to normal after the long stay at home. But remember, the virus is still out there!

  1. Enjoy your gardening!! I’m hoping to finally get some yard work done today!! As long as it stops raining. 🙂 Ohio is opening up now, too, even with approx. 27,000 confirmed cases now. I’m not in a hurry to get back out, even though I’m hoping I’m now immune to it.

  2. Sher planting petunias brought to mind a country song a friend was writing many years ago. Looking at the photo I think I can add a second line to the verse:

    “My petunia’s are dying, because I’m a crying over you.
    My kitchen sink’s in the grass, because I can’t seem to get off my….”

    I think you can fill in from there. Glacial deposits? That’s cool. My mom used to line her flower gardens with lava rocks from the volcanos on the west mesa. That area is now the Petroglyph Park, so now people aren’t supposed to take rocks.

    • LOL….never had a country lyric written about my flowers or a sink. The lava rocks sound very cool. The area south of Indianapolis has glacial placed rocks, some of which are a big as a car….most impressive.

  3. Excellent! Gardening and re-purposing! Both great for keeping energies fresh and/or repurposed as well. Dirt and rocks, glacial rocks, gardening. Great stuff. Be safe, healthy and in good spirits, and hopefully things will never go back to normal. Like a wonderfully naturalized Energizer Bunny garden of perennials, may we each continue to adapt with fluid fluency, seamless segues, for all that is good to amend our Inner Soil and thrive.

    Love the sink planter/bird bath idea.
