Strawberry Blush at Lanthier Winery

We enjoy going to wine tastings, especially when one of our sons, who doesn’t drink, drives us. Then Maj and I can both sample the wines.

We went to visit Lanthier Winery and Distillery, in Madison, IN. They have beautiful gardens which I wanted to see and to do a wine tasting.

Maj and I had tasted some and were deciding which we wanted.

Then. . .the sommelier brought out a bottle

Strawberry Blush

It is delicious!! Maj and I like sweet wines that we pair with cheese and crackers. This wine is perfect for us. The label says “a far away feeling, close enough to taste”. Strawberry Blush is one we came home with. One I’m sure we’ll be back for.

The gardens were beautiful even after the Ohio River flooding.

Easley Winery in downtown Indy

Sher and I had the opportunity to visit another central Indiana winery today. The Easley Winery is literally in downtown Indianapolis, a couple of blocks north of Washington Street, the main east/west artery in the city.

Easley has been around since 1974, and currently has over 100 acres of vineyards in southern Indiana. They offer very nice tastings, either inside or out on the patio at umbrella covered tables.  For $5.00 you  can sample seven different wines. Easley has a great variety of wines to choose from.

We found that of the seven wines we tasted Sher and I both liked the Sweet Barrel Red and the Reggae Margarita wines the best. We purchased a bottle of each before we left. Family owned Easley Winery is a great place to have a nice break from a busy day of sightseeing in Indy or for an enjoyable single destination.

German beer and peach wine at 450 North Brewing Co

We traveled to the 450 North Brewing Co. outside of Columbus, Indiana yesterday afternoon.  It was our first time to this brewery and we weren’t sure what to order.  In fact, we were too “coronavirus scared” to go into the establishment.  So, our dear son went in and brought out a beer list for us.  We got a growler of the Dunkel,  which is advertised as a German style lager, dark, smooth and malty.  At 5% ABV we loved it and will for sure be getting more.  We  are wanting to try some of their other brews as they have a large selection to choose from.

We are anxiously waiting to get our coronavirus vaccines so we can start visiting places again.  450 North Brewing is going to be one of our first go to places, as the food menu looks very good.

They are part of Simmons Winery, so we guessed at a bottle of wine we wanted to try.  We tried the Fuzzy Peach table wine and we were a little disappointed with our pick, as it wasn’t as sweet as we like.  But, our fault as we didn’t go inside to do a wine tasting.  Next time we will go in and try some of the sweeter wines.

Looking forward to going back to this winery and brewery.  I’m getting hungry just thinking of their menu!
