Remember back on May 24th we posted this picture (on the left) of a rose bud and said the rose was “on the way”. Well, here we are 5 days later and we have been blessed with a beautiful blooming rose that did get here. It is remarkable how Nature brings about so many dynamic examples of growth and development. There is something just so mystical about roses…
The trees are now fully in leaf. The roses are beginning to bloom, herbs are growing very nicely and the honeysuckle is in full bloom and hopefully will help the hummingbirds. Seems like the grass needs mowed every third day. Spring is here, summer is on the way.
This morning we woke to a very heavy frost. These pictures were captured at 10 o’clock, with the ambient temperature still at 28 F.

A heavy frost should not be a surprise: Winter Solstice is three days away!
This rose has a hitchhiker on one of its petals. What looks like a small bee is actually a hoverfly. No, it is not a sweat bee, although many call it that. Hoverflies only have two wings. (Bees have four wings) It does like sweat on humans, and is also a great pollinator.
This is the same rose we posted a couple of days ago. This morning we noticed pinkish spots on the petals. Can anybody chime in and help us identify what’s going on with this rose?

Two and four days ago we posted photos of one of our Asiatic Lilies and a rose bud just beginning to bloom. Today both plants displayed some great progress in the blooming arts, adding even more color to our backyard flower and herb garden.
Rainy day but a pretty rose.
The dense morning fog deposited a multitude of water droplets on the leaves of our rose bushes. Every square inch was touched with a moisture laden blessing.
Our rose bush out front is putting on some blooms.
Hopefully we’ll get a lot of pretty roses this year. It seems like the rose bushes are getting ready to really pop!
