O.J. Simpson dead from cancer at age 76

O.J. Simpson’s family announced on social media Thursday morning that he has died at the age of 76. “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer, He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.” This quote is from a post on X.

Simpson’s fame as an NFL star was overshadowed during his murder trail for the double-murder of his ex-wife and her friend in the 1990s. He was acquitted of the murder charges.

Sunbury is located near the actual geographic center of the State of Ohio. Founded in 1816, the then “village” was laid out in the classic New England town square design, with businesses  surrounding the square.

From its founding in 1816, Sunbury was designed to be a stagecoach town. Lawrence Myers, the town’s founder, built an inn at the intersection of two major stagecoach routes. The first stagecoach arrived in Sunbury from Mt. Vernon in 1820.

In 1848 the impressive brick Town Hall was constructed in the center of the square. It was first built two stories tall. Masons constructed the 3rd floor and occupied it for over 90 years. Multiple Ohio Historical Markers are placed around the  square providing information gems for the public.

Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre has set the bar very high with its current production run of Rogers and Hammerstein’s The King and I. This is the first production of the show at B&B since 2001. You’ll be delighted hearing unforgettable Rodgers and Hammerstein songs including “Getting To Know You,” “Something Wonderful,” “I Whistle A Happy Tune,” and the iconic “Shall We Dance.”

This is the story of a British widow hired as the tutor for the many children and wives of the King of Siam. Sparks fly as two very different cultures clash. King Mongkut and Anna Leonowens eventually respect each other’s points of view. The social issues aside, this musical is really a celebration of song, dance, incredibly elaborate costumes, scenery and music.

Special mention is a must for the child actors cast here. Doeyun Micah Schwantes-An plays the Prince and heir to the throne. Dj Dancler is the son of Anne and becomes friends with the Prince. The other children also are outstanding with their acting skills and singing in a complicated stage production.

Get ready for a wonderful evening of visual as well as auditory pleasure. Dancing choreography is professional, and Scene 4,  Act 2 includes a complete ballet! There is really something for everyone. You’ll smile, laugh and even shed a tear or two as you enjoy this classic show.

New York and New Jersey hit with 4.8 magnitude earthquake

New York and New Jersey felt the earth shake less than an hour ago at 10:30 AM. The quake registered 4.8 on the Richter Scale. Reports of shaking have already been reported from Maine to Maryland.

Early reports have not mentioned any severe damage. Several agencies in the area have ordered stops to services until inspections can be performed on infrastructure. Earthquakes are rare in the U.S. Northeast.

 

 

Los Angeles money storage facility suffers $30 million heist

Easter Sunday proved very costly to a cash storage facility in California’s San Fernando Valley. Burglars managed to cut into the roof, make their way to the vault avoiding any alarm systems,  successfully got away with around thirty million dollars in cash. The FBI Los Angeles Office is reported to be working with the LAPD, although details are not being shared.

The LA Times first reported the heist occurred Sunday night and was discovered on Monday. The facility hit is a cash storage facility that handles and stores cash for businesses from across the region, according to L.A. Police Department Cmdr. Elaine Morales.
