Cincinnati South Campground is a former KOA location that is now part of the Good Sam Club list of RV parks. The park is located south of Florence, Kentucky just a couple of miles off of Exit 166 from I-75. Head east to Rt. 25, turn right to the park about two miles south. Full hook up rates are $32 per night for full hookup with 30 amp, $37 for 50 amp. The facility is open from March 1 to October 31.There is no tent camping here.

This park is covered in beautiful old trees throughout. There are over 90 spaces for RVs. Twenty six have full hook-ups with 50 Amp and 30 Amp service, water and sewer. Not all sites have sewer but a dump station is available. You will be escorted to your site and assistance in locating your rig on the gravel pads is provided if needed.

The store is well stocked with basic RV needs, and also has DVDs and books available. The restrooms and showers are exceptionally clean with seating benches in the private shower stalls. The rolling topography, trees and large lake provide a beautiful setting for your visit.

While the park is beautiful, the facilities outstanding, and the staff friendly and helpful, the Cincinnati South Campground does have some issues. It is very close to I-75 so road traffic sounds are always there. However, the most annoying sounds come from the nearby trains. Trains run at close intervals, and the tracks cross several roads. This leads to each train blowing its extremely loud horn multiple times during each passing. The first night we stayed the every hour or so blaring train horns kept us from getting much sleep.

Unfortunately, the noises we experienced will keep us from returning to this otherwise nice park.

If you are traveling in an RV on I-90 in South Dakota plan on a stop at Exit 332 at Mitchell. There, right off the interstate, you will find the The R&R Campground and RV Park. It is tucked behind the Super 8 Motel, and shares the heated pool. The campground is open May through September.

Easy driving on level roads and site pads

This comfortable facility honors either Passport America or Good Sam Club membership discounts. The park has 35 pull through sites and 5 back in sites. Full hook ups are available in the pull through sites. Some tent sites are also available.The campground roads and RV pads are gravel and level. Grass lawn and picnic tables are part of the rental spots. The design of the park allows for easy maneuvering of any size rig. The dump station drain is set at a low level allowing for easy waste water dumping if you choose to use it.

The restrooms and showers are clean. The laundry facility is in the same building as the office and is also clean by the most particular standards. The office has a library and offers some ice cream and even beer and wine for sale. The advertised free internet was fully functional in the office, however we were not able to get online in our trailer. Management admitted that there were problems due for repair. We would recommend this as a stop. I will take the management’s word that the WIFi would soon be fixed.

We were not very excited to do it, but today we got our flu shots. I also had to get a whooping cough vaccine because I hadn’t had one yet. Maj had already had one a couple years ago. We got them at Bartell Drugs and they were very nice. The pharmacist was so nice and professional that I’m very glad we went there to get them. If you need to get your flu shot and are in the Everette, Washington area I highly recommend going to the Bartell Drug Store at 132nd Street. Dr. Song is who gave us our shots and she is very good. Only hurt a tiny bit, I didn’t even feel the whooping cough vaccine.

An interesting pairing, hurling pumpkins and Medieval jousting, was presented last weekend at the Snohomish Pumpkin Festival. Pumpkins were hurled by trebuchets and shot from pumpkin cannons. The pumpkins soared through the air for over 420 yards out of the cannon.

A group called the Seattle Knights also performed. This group of twenty or so men and women in the costumes and armor of the year 1200 put on mock battles. In addition, they had their horses and demonstrated the fine art of jousting.

Just about anybody who as been to a commercial campground has seen the cute little symbol of the Good Sam Club. You know, the happy smiling fellow with the gold halo above his head. The happy guy is either on the campground sign or at the least seen as a decal on motor coaches and trailers throughout the facility.

The Good Sam Club is a discount camping club and much, much more. In addition to unlimited 10% discounts at member campgrounds, Good Sam membership cards offer fuel discounts at Flying J Pilot truck stops across the country. Get reduced charges for using the Pilot dump stations as well.

There is a long list of benefits and other products available to members, including insurance, warranties, and other services to RV travelers.

At only $25 for a year membership anyone who has an RV should be a member of the Good Sam Club.

Yes, at Passport America member campgrounds you can get 50% off the regular nightly fee. There are some caveats. Many of the campgrounds offer the discount Sunday through Thursday nights only. Most do not honor the discount on holidays or during any “special events” in the area. Some campgrounds have a limited number of sites that are offered at the 50% rate. I strongly suggest that you call ahead, and be sure to mention you are a PA member.
