About us

Welcome to Roadtirement

Those who have followed us for awhile know that we moved from a big 4 bedroom home with an in ground pool to an RV adventure as soon as Maj retired in 2015. Prior to that we had traveled weekends in a small hybrid camping trailer, mostly to sell at flea markets and festivals. We soon up sized to a Class C motorhome. Sher and I were both looking forward to travel to visit our kids and their families who live in Indiana, Ohio, Washington state, and Texas.
We have had a wonderful time on the road and were blessed with the opportunity to visit all 48 of the lower states. We realized we should really have a small house as a base home. So we now have a very small house with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. It is quite a change from the big house we were used to, but then we are still gone a lot. Our youngest son isn’t married so he lives in the house and takes care of things while we travel.
Then Covid hit and we were stuck. Fortunately we were able to get to home base and stocked up with supplies. Like everyone we were shocked at how long it lasted and how bad it was. But, we were safe. Now it’s 2023 and we’re getting older, and it has become harder for us to travel in the RV cross country like we used to. So, we sold the RV, and now we just take shorter day trips. We fly when we go to Seattle or Austin.

A bit of nostalgia: We used to run flea markets out of the RV. Lots of work…

We still travel but our interests have changed a little. We like visiting vineyards and winetasting. We’ve gotten interested in old churches and their history, Maj has always been a history buff, so we’ve taken up visiting historical sites.
Our website has changed a bit to compensate for the changes we’re making. Rather than listing all the things we do in each state we are focusing more on the things that interest us today. Oh, and I shouldn’t forget birds! We have taken up bird watching.
I think you will still enjoy following us as we take shorter day trips, fly out of state and have more personal and fun stories.

Sher and I both invite you to check out our blog posts to see in detail what we are up to.  With the price of gas (and everything else!) still going higher, we will not make any trips in an RV anymore. It was fun for quite a few years and thousands of miles, but it was time to change. Thanks for taking a look at our blog.

  1. nice to see you again – I am still on the road, too – coach trips in retirement between UK and Ger give me the independence I desire. My blog is more about my philosophy behind it all. I enjoyed your travels while it lasted. Bset wishes,

  2. I used to follow you but I don’t know what happened! WP casually unfollows people from time to time and I guess that is what happened with you and me. I am so glad to get caught up and follow you again!
