Sher and I were here back in 2016.
When traveling east on Interstate 40 into Oklahoma from Texas you should take Exit 7 and head south into the town of Erick and Old Route 66. This former boom town was founded in 1901 but fell into trouble after WW II. The main street is filled with several nice old brick buildings that unfortunately are mostly empty.
Of special interest in Erick is the relic adorned βCity Meat Marketβ building. This brick is covered in old signs the likes of which would make any antique picker green with envy. This is the current home to the Sand Hill Curiosity Shop. We did not hit Erick on a day that the shop was open. A local shared that the shop is owned and operated by a pair of characters named Annabelle and Harley, AKA the Mediocre Musicians. They will play and sing for you if you catch them there.
Ah – that has to be an old old sign of S&H Green Stamps. I remember collecting them and getting merchandise. That does seem like a long long time ago. Ha

They were quite the thing back then, as I remember. Gas stations in our town gave them too. Thanks for stopping by!

I remember my mom collecting books and books of green stamps. Kind of a forerunner to frequent flyer miles.

LOL..How right you are….frequent flyer miles, gas points, buy 5 get one free cards, some things never change, do they? Thanks for stopping by and sharing your comments.

Those were popular when I was a kid. We loved licking and sticking them into their books. We redeemed them at the A&P, remember those?

Oh, yes I remember both Green Stamps and A&P. My maternal grandfather retired from A&P.

I remember S&H green stamps. They bring to mind Piggly Wiggly stores, which have been gone from the western US for years.

We too remember Green Stamps. My (Maj) maternal grandfather retired from A&P, similar to Piggly Wiggly. Another grocery chain gone…

Several years later a hand fell off and the crystal broke and Timex lifetime warranty did not cover ‘Mickey’ & ‘Mini’ watches π’ I still should have hung onto it but had no room with all the other stuff I’ve pack ratted over the years π

I always wondered about that “lifetime warranty”. And I appreciate the pack ratted description, I’m your brother in that, Sher is not…LOL
