Orcas!
One adventure that we hope to repeat is another whale watching trip out of Bellingham, Washington. A few years ago we were blessed with the opportunity to take a day cruise around the San Juan Islands in the Salish Sea north of Seattle. So many wildlife sightings of both sea animal and birds happened. The highlight of course was the sighting of a pod of orca killer whales, part of which is seen in the above photo we took. Note it shows an adult and a juvenile.
Very beautiful animals! The sounds they make must be wonderful. ❤️🐳

They are so amazing. We were in Alaska on a day cruise one time and a whale jumped straight up out of the water about 10 yards from the boat we were on. It was huge. The waves almost swamped us. It was awesome.

Orcas start passing down here (SoCal) around now but they’re rare. I’m desperate to see one in the wild@

Trust us: Head up north and find a reputable whale watching cruise. It is worth your time and effort to view killer whales in the wild.

Must be 15 years back we did our one and only whale watching trip not too far from yours. We were staying on Vancouver Island on the Pacific Coast. I think the only major wildlife group we didn’t see on that day was the Orca – good to see you had the luck!

When we went the company had a “If you don’t see whales you get another trip free” policy. I’m not sure if the “Island Caper” still sails.
